This is a problem that started recently. Whenever I try to start up skype and make a video call, the video freezes after about a minute. Why is that? I have fast internet (768k, and it did work properly before). How do I fix this problem? It’s really annoying.

This is a huge problem in the latest versions of Skype. It appears to be particularly bad with Logitech and Microsoft cameras. I use a bargain cheapy kind and have no problem but my parents use a Microsoft and their video freezes.

Some folks have suggested reverting to an older version of Skype (say 4.1 or lower) and in Skype turning off the options for automatically updating to a new version.

Whenever I post a new status on skype, in a few minutes it reverses back to an old status i posted a while ago. I tried on different computers, and it still happens. I think it might be because of my profile, maybe? Why is it doing this?

It happens sometime randomly. Try this.

– Exit skype application.

– Open my computer

– In address bar type
%appdata%

– Rename file “keyval.db” to something else.

Every time I try to log into Skype it keeps saying it cannot connect. I’ve tried everything I could think of to fix it. I’ve restarted my computer, re-installed, and checked out the Skype help page but nothing is working. My WIFI is on. Does anyone know the solution to this?

Same happened to me. I just think you have to wait. Its obvliviously a problem with skype and theres no solution. Just give it time. Im pretty sure skype will fix itself soon(:

So when I downloaded these programs (Skype, uTorrent & Wavepad) the ‘device’ icon appears on my desktop and when i click it it’s that “drag icon to install thing”. I drag the icon to my applications folder and it installs and it works but when I delete the ‘device’ icon, it stops working. When I turn my macbook on/off they disappear too and my programs won’t work anymore. How can I fix this? I don’t want those device icons to disappear and my programs to work.

DMG files are called “disk image” files. They mount as a disk when you double-click. They unmount either when you choose to manually unmount them or when you restart. You cannot change that.

If you drag a file from a disk image window to the Applications folder, it should show a copying bar (unless the file is extremely small and copies in one second). The next thing you should do is unmount the disk image. Then open the Skype.app from a Finder window at the Applications folder. Your mistake is that after you copied the Skype.app to the Applications folder, you went back to the disk image and open Skype.app there. DO NOT DO THIS. Open Skype.app from the Applications folder.

Basically, how can I have Skype and everything my friends are saying come through my headset AND have other programs like iTunes and Firefox going through my speakers?

Not possible as far as I know. I use a headset frequently to chat to my fiance via Skype, and if I happen to be watching a YouTube video as she calls, she can hear the audio track
